A closer look at the journey.

The approach to Annapurna Base Camp changes character steadily: cultivated hills give way to rhododendron forest, deeper valleys and the open basin beneath the Annapurna massif. This longer programme includes Ghorepani and Poon Hill before joining the Sanctuary trail through Chhomrong. Pokhara provides the starting point for the mountain journey.

The route visits Machhapuchhre Base Camp before continuing to Annapurna Base Camp and returning through the valley. Expect repeated stone steps and both ascents and descents, rather than a steady uphill walk. Kathmandu and Pokhara time is included in the overall schedule, leaving space to enjoy the journey beyond the trekking days.

  • Poon Hill and the forested Ghorepani trail
  • Chhomrong and the Modi Khola valley
  • The enclosed mountain landscape of the Sanctuary
